Equine Appraisal:
The act of estimating cost, determining value, or forecasting earnings. An appraisal is neither a precise measurement nor a guess, but rather a relative estimate or opinion based on supporting evidence.
Equine Appraiser:
For centuries people have been placing value on property. But have you ever wondered what creates value, or how value is determined, or who or what determines it? That is what an equine appraiser does: develops an opinion of value on personal property, specifically, horses. The appraiser does not make a wild guess, however. He or she uses a process that involves proper identification of the item to be appraised; the gathering of relevant, factual information; knowledge of and/or experience with the subject property; and knowledge of the markets for the property. Certified appraisers follow the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice as well as a stringent Code of Ethics in making their value judgements.
